Middle of the night conversations

Monday, 10. February 2014 10:44 | Author:Megan

Around 3 a.m. this morning, Alex calls for me and I answered him through the monitor.

Alex – “Did you know that sometimes I like to sleep with my animals, and sometimes I don’t, and sometimes I only want to sleep with Nemo, my shark and Elmo?”
Me – “Yes. And tonight you have your shark and Nemo.”
A – “And Elmo.”
M – “Right, and Elmo. Close your eyes and go back to sleep.”
A – “Why aren’t you laying on the pillow?” (Note – I had put a small pillow in there last night so there was room for my head when he was falling asleep, so that’s what he is talking about.)
M – “Because I am sleeping in my own bed.”
A – “Can you come lay with me?”
M – “No, I’m too tired. I am not getting out of bed.”
A – “Okay. Can you move your pillow out of my bed then?”
M – “No, but you can.”
A – “Okay.”

And he falls back asleep.  So random!

Bathroom eavesdropping

Saturday, 8. February 2014 11:26 | Author:Megan

Alex (in bath tub): What are you doing,  Daddy?
Ryan: Shaving
A: Are you shaving your beard off?
R: Do you want me to?
A: No!
R: Can I trim it?
A: Yes, and then it will grow back.

I’m glad Alex is on my side!

Me: “Alex, the baby is the size of a cucumber now.”
Alex: “No Mommy, she’s a flower.”

I laid down on the floor this morning.
M: Ow.
A: Why did you say ow?
M: My back hurts.
A: Why?
M: I don’t know. I’m getting old.
A: No you’re not. You’re brand new!

Falling asleep tonight:  “now let’s talk about this. When I am a daddy, what will Daddy be?”

Having a cough while pregnant is horrible. This is the second time. It’s so frustrating!

Alex needed privacy today and locked himself in the bathroom.

Ryan finished the Christmas card today. It might be a record for our earliest completion date!

Alex has been making up his own language lately. It’s kinda annoying because “ca-ca” is his favorite and it sounds like a bad word.

I love that Alex whispers to my stomach “I’m your big brother.” <3

Last night, Ryan and I stayed up way too late watching TV, and we didn’t have the monitor downstairs with us.  At almost midnight, we heard Alex calling and stomping on the floor.  Uh oh.  He doesn’t usually get out of bed at night.  I rushed upstairs to find out what was wrong, and he was crying “I have to pee.”  Poor kid.  He can’t open our door knobs yet (and I am in no rush for that).  I let him out so he could use the bathroom, and then he fell back asleep.  That was the first time that he’s actually woken himself up to go to the bathroom (most times, he just holds it all night long).  I guess those three full cups with dinner were too much to handle!

Speaking of dinner, we have definitely entered the Temper Tantrum phase. When it was time for dinner last night, I was getting the food on the plates, and Alex said he wanted cereal. I told him he couldn’t have cereal, and he FLIPPED out. After 45 minutes of screaming and jumping up and down, I finally won and he ate his real dinner. Whew.

Back at it?

Wednesday, 20. November 2013 19:29 | Author:Megan

I have been thinking (for like two years lol) that I need to start “blogging” again. I wanted to keep track of the things Alex has been doing, but I failed to actually do it. I just downloaded an app on my phone to make it easier (or harder because I hate typing on my phone). We’ll see how it goes. I’m not like Ryan with long, well-written entries… I plan to just have short posts to help me remember day-to-day stuff later.

Such as, on the drive home from school today in the dark, Alex yawned and I said “it sounds like you’re tired.” To which he replied, “no, that wasn’t a tired yawn. It was just like a yawn when the sun is out.” Anything to not sleep!

Bamboozle, part 2

Sunday, 30. May 2010 14:34 | Author:Ryan

Another post! Today, we are heading back to see Hanson at the Bamboozle Roadshow. But this time we’re at Six Flags in San Antonio, Texas! We figured we’d get here as soon as the park opened to take advantage of the rides first, but even at 10am it was packed! And the entrance is completely unorganized. When we first came in, we went directly to the turnstiles since we bought our tickets online, but we didn’t get a wristband for the concert. When we asked, the staff had no clue what we were talking about and said we had to leave and re-enter the park. Then, after waiting at the ticket Booth, we were directed to guest services, who then said we had to wait at the pink and green booths. It’s a good thing I’m not colorblind because I would have had no idea where to go… oh, wait… I am.
After we finally got in the park, we got on a log flume ride. Luckily for us, when the ride broke down while we were in our ‘log’, we were in the shade. Just think of those fools stuck in a log in the 90-degree Texas sun! That was all about 3-4 hours ago. Since then we’ve been waiting in endless lines to get on 1.5 more rides (we’re waiting for another as I’m writing this). Only 35 more minutes!!
Go figure the the past 3 parks we visited (Disneyland, Disneyworld, and Universal Orlando) had little to no lines. But then again, this is a Sunday of a holiday weekend with big-named bands in house. ::sigh::
30 minutes to go! Maybe if we waited in lines more often, there’d be more posts in our blog…
