Ryan, Megan, and Alex's Carolina Itinerary
Saturday, February 1, 2014 - Monday, February 3, 2014
Howdy! Today, we're not just going to 'Carolina in our minds, but in person! The problem is, something always happens when we go to the Carolinas... what is it? Hmmm... Oh, yeaahh... Alex seems to get sick. Well, it's a good thing that he's a big boy now and- ...what? He has an ear infection? Fan-tas-tic... But is that going to stop us from going? Heck, no! He's got his antibiotics going strong, so he should be good to go. So, what are we doing in Carolina? Well, for one, we're flying into Charlotte - one of Southwest's newer airports after taking over AirTran. And two, the Ravens aren't in the Super Bowl, so let's spend the weekend somewhere else. Unfortunately, it looks like we're going to be dealing with cloudy and somewhat rainy weather the whole trip, but I'm sure we'll make the most of it!
All times are local to the particular city. This trip will take place entirely in the Eastern Time Zone.

Saturday, February 1
Yum - that fresh airplane magazine smell! That's right, it's the first of the month, and we're headed south for the winter. This will be the first winter in a very long time when we haven't gone all the way to Florida. Ah, well. We're due to arrive in Charlotte by late morning, and we'll actually stick around the city for the entire day. By around noon, we'll be at the Mint Museum, Uptown . A couple hours later, we should find ourselves either at the Levine Museum of the New South (that's a mouthful!), or if Alex needs to kick off some energy, the Discovery Place . By 5:30 in the evening, we'll catch mass at The Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick before getting dinner and arriving at our hotel , just south of the airport.
Sunday, February 2
OK - enough with this no-driving stuff - we have to get moving! This morning, we'll start heading towards the ocean, but not before "visiting" some "old friends" . By noon, we should be arriving at Moores Creek National Battlefield . Since all war stuff gets us hungry, we'll grab some lunch before visiting Battleship North Carolina . And from there, we head into South Carolina. We are planning to get some pizza and get to our hotel in Myrtle Beach just in time for kickoff of Super Bowl XLVIII.
Monday, February 3
And that's about it. Really. We're waking up early and leaving our hotel by 9am. From there, it's a 4-5 hour drive back to Charlotte for our flight home. If the weather is OK, we might stop by the Airport Overlook to watch some planes take off before we do, but it'll probably be raining, in which case we'll just get some lunch at some Applebee's and then get to the airport by 3pm. And that really is it!
Where you at?? We are never 100% on time to our destinations, so we've taken all the guesswork out of figuring out where we are by broadcasting our GPS location. You'll need to manually refresh this page to see our latest movements, but so long as we get cell phone signal, you'll be able to see where we are!
Megan's Location... Ryan's Location...
And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...
