Ryan, Megan, and Alex's Chicagoish Itinerary
Wednesday, July 4, 2012 - Friday, July 6, 2012

Look, ma - no weekends! Actually, this trip is very disorganized - we had no idea where we were going until just hours before our flight! Originally, we booked a trip to Boston for the bicentennial celebration of the War of 1812. Then, we found a cheaper fare to Providence, so we changed it. A few weeks later, a sale was offered for Milwaukee, so we thought we could fly in on the 4th and back on the 5th. The problem is, Milwaukee has fireworks on the 3rd, so we pushed the trip out a day longer (to the 6th) and decided to spend our time in Chicago. For a while, we then had two flights - one to Milwaukee, the other to Providence. We decided to watch the weather and decide from there. Problem is, Chicago is going to be very hot (100+ degrees), and Providence/Boston will be rainy and humid. Finally, just a couple hours before the flights (which took off less than 30 minutes apart), we decided to go to Milwaukee, drive to Chicago, and spend some time in Iowa. Whew! We'll see how this goes!

Happy 4th! As soon as we get on the road, we are heading south towards Chicago. We'll make a couple stops along the way, like at the first franchised McDonalds restaurant and the Leaning Tower of Niles. From there, we'll stop somewhere around Grant Park for the rest of the evening and try to stay cool until the evening fireworks begin at Navy Pier. Our hotel is about 30 minutes outside the city, so we'll get there sometime around 11:00pm (or midnight back home).

Thursday, July 5
Find more about Weather in Davenport, IA
Today is a big question mark. For weeks, we were planning on hanging around Chicago (which we still might do), but given the hot weather, we might just head west towards Iowa. If so, we'll visit Ronald Reagan's boyhood home, as well as Herbert Hoover's presidential museum. We'll hang around Davenport for a while, maybe visit Cedar Rapids, and then head back to Chicago for the night.

Friday, July 6
Find more about Weather in Gen Mitchell International, WI
This is another question mark. We might stick around Chicago for a while today, or we'll head back north to Milwaukee. If we go north, we might just make our third trip to the Miller Brewing company for some free beer before flying home. Airline pilots get drunk before flying, so why can't we? :-)

Where you at?? We are never 100% on time to our destinations, so we've taken all the guesswork out of figuring out where we are by broadcasting our GPS location, courtesy of Per their rules, you'll need to manually refresh this page to see our latest movements, but so long as we get cell phone signal, you'll be able to see where we are!

And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...
