Ryan, Megan, and Alex's Maine Itinerary
Saturday, September 21, 2013 - Monday, September 23, 2013
Howdy! Well, here's a pop-up trip! We never added this to our website's planned itinerary list, even though it's been booked since Southwest's June 'distance-sale.' SWA started flying into Portland, ME earlier this year, as they continue overtaking AirTran destinations. So, since this is one of Southwest's longer 'short-hop' flights, we decided to take a trip up north during that sale! Here we go!
All times are local to the particular city. This trip will take place entirely in the Eastern Time Zone.

Saturday, September 21
Happy last day of summer! Today we were planning to go to the first annual BBQ and Blues Festival in Portland, but then we realized that tickets were $15 each (plus one for Alex), and given that it was a very small festival (it fits on a pier), and it was Alex's naptime, we decided to head East to Bar Harbor, just in time for dinner. Tonight, we're spending the night in Bangor.
Sunday, September 22
Happy first day of Fall! The weather forecast for today is rain, rain, and more rain. Unfortunately, our plans for the day involved lots of outside activities, like hiking near the head of the Appalachian Trail in Baxter State Park. Nonetheless, we are still planning to head north and west today, potentially into a brand new province for all of us: New Brunswick, Canada. Although, I think customs will think it's strange that we are only going into Canada for "a few hours" just to "stop by." It wouldn't be the first time, though! Whatever we end up doing, we'll eventually make our way into Auburn for the night.
Monday, September 23
On our last day, we'll swing by the state capital (if we didn't get a chance to do so yesterday), followed by the "Desert of Maine", and a few lighthouses outside of Portland. If the forecast is accurate, we should have lots of sun today! By the late afternoon, we'll be headed to the airport and will be back in Maryland in the 7:00 hour!
Where you at?? We are never 100% on time to our destinations, so we've taken all the guesswork out of figuring out where we are by broadcasting our GPS location. You'll need to manually refresh this page to see our latest movements, but so long as we get cell phone signal, you'll be able to see where we are!
Megan's Location... Ryan's Location...
And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...
