Ryan, Megan, and Alex's Eastern Shore Itinerary
Saturday, August 4, 2012 - Sunday, August 5, 2012
Howdy! Well, there isn't much to say about this trip. It's mid-summer, so we're making our annual trip out to Ocean City. This time around, we're mixing things up a bit. We're flying into Norfolk and then driving home by way of Virginia Beach and Ocean City. Sure, we could have just left a few hours earlier and packed our own car with beach stuff, but what's the fun in that? Although, it is somewhat sad to say that Alex added Virginia to his "visited" state list by means of flying...
All times are local to the particular city. All of this trip will take place in the Eastern Time Zone (duh...).

We'll be pumping images to this site whenever we feel like it, but if the camera appears frozen for a while, it's likely that we stopped someplace cool or have no internet whatsoever.

Saturday, August 4
After a brief flight into Norfolk, Virginia , we'll be on our way! We should be on the road no later than 10:00am, if not already in Virginia Beach by that point. The weather might turn sour, so we'll spend our morning on or around the beach . We might stop by First Landing Seashore State Park or Fort Monroe in the afternoon. Before it gets too dark, we'll start our drive northbound along Route 13's 23-mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (a first for all 3 of us)! After a long drive up the Chesapeake Bay impact crater, we'll settle into our hotel on Chincoteague Island .
Sunday, August 5
If the sky is not too overcast, we'll get up early to see the sunrise before we make our way back into Maryland . It's kind of strange to write about visiting Maryland on one of our trips, but so it goes... Our first stop will be on Assateague Island , followed by Ocean City . The weather is expected to be overcast and rainy, so we'll make due however we can. As the night falls, we'll make our long trip back home - driving, not flying. We'll stop by our house to drop off our stuff , and then Ryan will go back to BWI to drop off the rental and pick up the car. Eventually, we'll all end up back home, sometime before midnight .
Where you at?? We are never 100% on time to our destinations, so we've taken all the guesswork out of figuring out where we are by broadcasting our GPS location, courtesy of InstaMapper.com. Per their rules, you'll need to manually refresh this page to see our latest movements, but so long as we get cell phone signal, you'll be able to see where we are!
And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...
Just as before, these are some links where you might be able to track our flight. With all of these sites, be sure to hit refresh (F5) and click 'Retry' as applicable to view the latest information.
