Ryan, Megan, Alex, and Katie's New England IV Itinerary
Saturday, September 5, 2015 - Tuesday, September 8, 2015
Howdy! Whadda know! It's Megan's birthday weekend! This time around, her birthday falls on the Saturday of a holiday weekend - how cool is that? So, to celebrate, I'm waking her up at 4am to get on a plane to Rhode Island - yay! Actually, one of the main reasons for this trip is to get Katie to 3 new states: Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. We should be able to do it without too much driving over the course of 4 days, while still being able to see some cool stuff. At the end of the trip, we'll actually get home at a reasonable hour - then perhaps Megan can get some sleep! Happy Birthday, love!
All times are local to the particular city. This trip will take place entirely in the Eastern Time Zone.
You know the drill. If we have signal and feel like setting up the webcam, the pictures above will start changing.

Saturday, September 5
Happy Birthday, Megan! Today, we get a nice early start, taking off at around 7 in the morning. We should be on the road in New England by around 9:30, at which point we'll head straight to Blithewold Mansion and Gardens . Thanks to Bank of America's free museum program, it should be... well, free! The weather should be nice, so we'll hang out at Colt State Park for a short time afterward. From there, we head back towards Providence to see the Roger Williams National Memorial and Rhode Island School of Design Museum . That should take us into the evening hours, at which point we'll grab dinner before getting to our hotel outside of Boston .
Sunday, September 6
After getting slightly more sleep than the night before, we'll start the day at St. Anthony of Padua for their 9am mass. Since we like to visit dead people we don't know, we'll then go deeper into the bowels of Boston (we hate this city) to visit Mt Auburn Cemetery , which is filled with really old dead folks. From there, it's off to the Museum of Science , and probably lots of crowds. Depending on how things go, we'll then go to the MIT Museum , which is another one of those BoA freebies. After that, we head north to Maine . But this time, we are only staying long enough to get a picture with Katie and then we head back into New Hampshire . By this point, it's probably too late to check out the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester , as it closes at 5pm. If so, we'll either go to a local state fair or just head to our hotel in Concord .
Monday, September 7
Labor Day: Did we get any sleep yet? I hope so! Today we head west to Vermont . We'll actually spend some time there, as we have a stop at the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park . After that, we check out the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site , and that's about it. If we went to the state fair yesterday, we'll head back towards Boston today. If not, we'll go to the Hopkinton State Fair today until it closes around 7pm. After that, we end up heading towards Boston anyway for the night .
Tuesday, September 8
It's already our last day! We're playing hookie from work to fly home, but not before we check out the Harvard Museum of Natural History and the Boston Tea Party Ship and Museum - or just the Boston harbor if we are running short on time. After that, we drive straight down to Providence by 2pm to catch our afternoon flight home - and to get the kids (and us) to be on time!
And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...
