Ryan, Megan, and Alex's Vegas and Canyon Itinerary
Wednesday, November 7, 2012 - Monday, November 12, 2012

Howdy! Can you believe Alex is almost 2 years old? Just 4 months left! I guess that means we better start packing in the trips while he is still free to fly! This time around, we are heading back to Las Vegas - for the third time this year! We won't be sticking around the city very long, though. Our plan is to head out to the north end of the Grand Canyon and stick around that area for a few days. For the past couple weeks, the temperature has hovered around 65 degrees, but by the time we get out there, it's going to be freezing, literally - like down to 1 degree at night! Nonetheless, we'll make the best of it, I'm sure!

Today starts as a regular work day and ends in sin city! We booked an evening flight back when we na´vely thought that Alex would just sleep through the entire flight. Ha! Let's just hope he stays sane. Once we land [1], there are no plans other than checking into our hotel for the night [2].

Today is fairly casual. We'll stick around our hotel until almost noon before heading East. Our first (and only) stop will be at Zion National Park [3]. We'll get there around 2 or 3 and stay until sunset. From there, we drive out to our hotel [4], just outside Bryce Canyon.

Friday, November 9

Once again, we're taking today fairly slow. We're going to start out [5] by hiking around Bryce Canyon (at least for as long as we can stand the cold). From there, we're driving through Grand Staircase-Escalante [6] towards Alstrom Point [7]. It's going to be somewhat white-knuckle because it will be off-road, far from any major civilization, in the cold, and without any cell phone signal. But, then again, that's what we do! Before it gets too dark, we'll make our way into Arizona, where we'll find our hotel [8].

Don't pay too much attention to the weather forecast for today - that's at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, which is several thousand feet lower than where we'll be today: The North Rim. It'll be cold, cloudy, and snowy, but Alex will get his first view of the Grand Canyon [9]! We'll slowly make our way to St. George, hopefully in time for a 5pm mass [10]. From there, we'll grab dinner and drive to our hotel in the same city [11]. By the way, the last time we were out in this area, we did Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon in 1.5 days. Now it's 3 days... we must be getting old.

Today, we'll make our way back to Las Vegas. On the way, we'll stop by the Nevada state sign for a picture [12] (Alex was sleeping the last time we crossed this state border). We might swing by Valley of Fire State Park in the late morning [13-14], but we need to be back in Vegas by around 2 or 3. We've got a dinner date with one of Ryan's co-workers. While Alex goes to sleep with Megan, Ryan will be sticking around the strip for a show at 7:30 (America's Got Talent, if you must know). We'll spend the night just off the south end of the strip [15].

Our last day! And how we wish we picked an earlier flight! Anyhow, we'll be hanging about the town [16] almost all day, heading off to the airport [17] around 3. We don't get back to Baltimore until after midnight. Oh, joy!

Where you at?? We are never 100% on time to our destinations, so we've taken all the guesswork out of figuring out where we are by broadcasting our GPS location, courtesy of Per their rules, you'll need to manually refresh this page to see our latest movements, but so long as we get cell phone signal, you'll be able to see where we are!

And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...

Just as before, these are some links where you might be able to track our flight. With all of these sites, be sure to hit refresh (F5) and click 'Retry' as applicable to view the latest information.
